On Monday I was joined by Communities Secretary, Eric Pickles, at an event I co-hosted in aid of the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust. Iby Knill who survived the Bosnian Genocide discussed her experiences at the event. Full details can be found on my website article.
In other news this week, the Post Office confirmed that the relocation of the East Finchley branch will go ahead. I had a meeting on Tuesday where this was discussed. The relocation will mean the branch’s future is secured and customers can now benefit from extended opening hours. This was covered in the Hendon Times (link). I have also asked the Council to consider installing disabled parking outside the new branch.
On Tuesday evening I was joined by the Hindu Cultural Society in Westminster. I was a pleasure to welcome them down in recognition of their role in the local Hindu Community.
On Thursday I contributed to the debate on domestic violence. I discussed some of the issues facing Orthodox Jewish communities as well as growing incidences of violence amongst same-sex couples. A full transcript of the debate can be found here.
On Friday, I met members of the local Iranian Community with London MEP Marina Yannakoudakis before heading over to Golders Green to meet with Jewish Care.
Over the weekend I had a full schedule of surgeries. My Mobile Surgery visited East Finchley, parking on the High Road. I then headed over to the Strawberry Vale Estate. A wide range of issues were raised which I will be following up on.
