It was a pleasure to begin the week by welcoming Childs Hill School to Parliament for a tour, followed by a Q&A session. The pupils really appreciated being taken round the Commons and Lords and had some difficult questions lined up for me afterwards!
I also attended the launch of a report on ovarian cancer. I was interested to learn that ovarian cancer is the fourth biggest cancer killer of women in the UK, accounting for around 4,300 deaths in 2011 – approximately 12 women every day.
This week also saw the largest gathering of constituents I have hosted. Around 140 Finchley residents arrived for a ‘Meet your Street’ event. I gave them a tour of Westminster after a reception just off Westminster Hall. The events are proving incredibly popular and I look forward to hosting several more in the coming months.
As is customary, my Mobile Surgery was out in East Finchley on Friday morning.
I also had events scheduled over the weekend. I took part in and opened a 4k fun run in aid of Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice before heading to Finchley Reform Synagogue for a Joint Iftar with the Somali Bravanese Community.
