Government to bring forward plan to make squatting illegal following campaign by Mike Freer MP

Mike Freer MP today welcomed the announcement by the Justice Secretary, Ken Clark, and the Prime Minister that proposals making squatting a criminal offence in England will be brought forward.  Currently squatting is a civil offence, meaning that those that find their homes occupied have to go through a lengthy court process to regain possession, and the police are powerless to intervene. 

Pardes House Primary secures renovation cash

The Department of Education has announced today that Pardes House Primary School has secured funding to be refurbished.  The school is one of 261 in England that has been awarded funding to be entirely rebuilt or improve its existing buildings.

Mike backs plan to extend Freedom Pass to over 60s

Mike Freer MP has welcomed Boris Johnson’s promise to extend the Freedom Pass to Londoners aged 60 or over.  This reverses Ken Livingstone’s Labour decision to raise the age at which Londoners are entitled to free travel.
