Cones, lane restrictions and temporary traffic lights are to be removed this Sunday from Henlys Corner as the upgrade work is virtually completed. The new traffic signals will be switched on and the banned right turns, which have been in place since the upgrade work began, will be lifted. Only the installation of overhead sign gantries remains, which will be undertaken during the night on 21 and 22 December and require road closures.
Speaking from Finchley, Mike Freer MP said, “From Sunday the junction will be virtually finished, and drivers will be using the new layout. The best news is for pedestrians, who will be able to cross safely instead of having to go on lengthy detours or dodge six lane of traffic.
The road works have been completed on time, and although the traffic delays have been a pain, there should now be a marked improvement at this notorious junction. Drivers, cyclists and pedestrians should all have an easier time thanks to Boris’ decision to invest in the upgrade.”
Transport forLondonis warning drivers that the significantly different road layout will require extra care. In particular, vehicles travelling from the east on the North Circular wanting to turn right intoRegents Park Roadwill be required to use the new filter lane on the left-hand side of the road.
