Finchley and Golders Green has received unprecedented economic support to protect jobs and businesses during the Coronavirus outbreak. The Governments top priority has always been to support people and protect jobs and businesses through this crisis. The furlough and self-employment schemes have provided a lifeline for millions across the country.
Locally, 16,100 people have been furloughed, covering 80 per cent of peoples’ wages up to £2,500 per month.
6,400 self-employed people here in Finchley and Golders Green are receiving grants worth a total of £18.8 million.
This has helped protect the livelihoods of over 20,000 people locally. As we move onto the next phase of our roadmap to recovery, the Government has committed to kick-starting our economy while continuing to provide flexible support to those who need it.
I am proud of the level of support that has been provided by the Government, ensuring that families can pay their bills and put food on the table, and keeping people in employment.
