Finchley and Golders Green MP, Mike Freer, held a tea party in aid of charity, Contact the Elderly on Sunday the 15 June. The event, which took place in Mike Freer’s constituency office, was to raise awareness of isolation amongst the elderly population.
Speaking after the event, Mike Freer commented “Social isolation has been shown damaging to health in later years. Contact the Elderly are an excellent charity who by helping to organise social events, are providing an invaluable service to combat loneliness. The events are great fun and make a real difference to those that attend”.
Around 25 people attended Sunday’s event where a lunch, teas and cakes were provided. Contact the Elderly are a national charity who were one of the recipients of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Volunteering Award.
