Finchley and Golders Green MP, Mike Freer, today visited Barnet’s first Get to Know Cancer pop up shop in the Spires Shopping Centre. The pop up shop is a new idea which aims to raise awareness and improve the early diagnosis of cancers. Staff were on hand to engage with members of the public and stress that early diagnosis is the key to beating cancer.
Speaking today, Mike Freer said “The pop up shop is an innovative idea and an excellent way of raising awareness of the importance of treating cancer quickly. Early deaths from cancer are one of the biggest causes of premature deaths in Barnet meaning their work is vitally important”.
Mike Freer was joined by Cllr Helena Hart and Chipping Barnet MP, Theresa Villiers. Mike Freer is also running a campaign for a permanent breast cancer screening unit at Finchley Memorial Hospital, further details can be found at www.mikefreer.com
