Local MP, Mike Freer, was invited to attend a Fun Day organised and hosted by McDonald’s UK in Cherry Tree Wood, East Finchley.
The event was attended by Head Office staff and members of the local community to give them the opportunity to learn about a number of major campaigns currently being launched across the UK.
At the event Mr Freer had the opportunity to experience McDonald’s UK’s ‘Follow Our Foodsteps’ campaign, which uses the latest virtual reality technology and 360° video to build pride in the food and farming industries and inspire people to consider a role within the sectors.
‘Follow Our Foodsteps’ gives people the chance to go behind the scenes and follow the different ingredients of the McDonald’s menu from farm to fork, highlighting the different skills required along the way.
Local people were also able to enjoy a range of football games to advertise the McDonald’s Community Football Days, including human table football. They also had the chance to meet McDonald’s football ambassador, Martin Keown.
On the day Mr Freer met with McDonald’s Chief Executive, Paul Pomroy, and local McDonald’s franchisee, Atul Pathak, to discuss their work in the local community.
Commenting on the event Mr Freer said: “McDonald’s are a major employer in my constituency and across the UK. It is true that fast food companies have not always had the best reputation for the provenance of their food, so it was great to see work being done to inform people of the relationship the company has built with the British food and farming industries. The 360° video brilliantly demonstrated the skills and hard work that go into supplying and preparing the food that we eat.”
