Several local residents contacted Mike Freer following the £8m upgrade to Henlys Corner expressing concern that road signs were confusing drivers. Specifically drivers approaching Henlys Corner on Regents Park Road from the north were not directed to the right lane, resulting in cars attempting to change lane at the last moment close to the traffic lights.
Speaking from his constituency office in Finchley, Mike Freer MP said, “The upgrade has been widely welcomed but there are a few problems that need ironing out. Drivers coming down Regents Park Road complained that they didn’t know which lane to drive in and were worried this would cause an accident.
I have persuaded Transport for London to change the signs by next month, but they will be making minor alterations in the meantime to improve safety.”
The upgrade of the notorious A1/North Circular junction was completed in December last year, improving safety for cyclists and pedestrians as well as alleviating congestion for drivers.
