The Culture Secretary has now announced a package of support for the UK arts and culture sector. This £1.57 billion package announced by the Government will protect our world class arts, culture and heritage institutions and has been widely supported by the industry.
The package includes £900 million in grants plus additional £270 million in repayable loans. Thousands of organisations including performing arts and theatres, heritage and historic places, museums, galleries, live music and independent cinema will benefit from access to emergency grants and loans.
Decisions on awards will be made working alongside expert independent figures from the sector including Arts Council England and other specialist bodies such as Historic England, National Lottery Heritage fund and the British Film Institute. The repayable finance will be issued on generous terms tailored for cultural institutions to ensure they are affordable.
Further details regarding this scheme will be set out when it opens in the coming weeks. You can read more information on this announcement here.
