On Sunday the 29th, I visited the Allotment Hut at the Railway Cottages in Cricklewood for a regular surgery appointment I have there.
This week I also visited Embankment Station to see works being conducted to replace escalators and upgrade the station. Currently, Northern Line trains are not stopping at the station whilst the works are ongoing. I sought assurances from TFL that works are being conducted as quickly and as cheaply as possible.
I also has discussions with the Deputy Mayor, Isabel Dedring, regarding bus services to Finchley Memorial Hospital. In response to pressure from myself and local residents, TFL have agreed to revisit the issue. They will be conducting a thorough usage survey to see if a bus service is viable in view of increased usage at the hospital site.
Later in the week, I attended a reception at 10. Downing Street with Samantha Cameron and the excellent local charity, Kisharon. This was covered in the Hendon Times and can be found here: http://www.times-series.co.uk/news/11120723.Special_needs_school_shares_expansion_plans_with_Samantha_Cameron/ .
On Thursday, the Mayor of London visited Barnet to discuss housing and other issues. Boris visited the first of 26,000 new homes to be built in the coming years.
And on Friday, the Chancellor, George Osborne, visited Brent Cross where he discussed his support for the regeneration scheme. During the Budget, the Chancellor gave Government backing to regeneration plans which will see the shopping centre revamped, thousands of new homes built as well as a new train station.
I then rushed back to Westminster to meet officials from the Israeli Embassy.
Over the weekend I also launched the campaign for a memorial garden for Mrs Thatcher at the North London Hospice in North Finchley. If anyone would like to make a donation to the fund, please write to North London Hospice and sent to Margaret Thatcher Tribute Fund c/o, 212 Ballards Lane, Finchley, N3 2LX.
