Much of my week this week was dominated by the preparation for the debate on the Governments proposals for English Votes for English Laws. On Thursday the vote was passed by 312 votes against 270 who were opposed to the proposals.
However, while preparing for the vote, I held meetings with the HIV AIDS Alliance to discuss both the work they undertake and my work as the chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on HIV AIDS. I also hosted an event for the Kisharon charity in Parliament’s Jubilee Room, and attended the annual Pink News Awards held at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. On Friday I held a supermarket surgery at Waitrose on Ballards Lane, before visiting the Work Avenue charity in Finchley that provides support to get people into or back into work.
Over the weekend I attended a Seudah Shlishit at Hampstead Garden Suburb Synagogue, and the Mayor’s Annual Civic Service at Hendon United Synagogue. Following Sunday’s Civic Service I travelled to East Barnet School to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Neasden Temple with BAPS Finchley.
