Your safety is the most important thing. At this time of year, when we all put our clocks forward, it is also a time of year when we often give would-be burglars a clue that our homes are unoccupied. There are many simple steps that can be taken to make your home less attractive to burglars, such as:
- Change the timers on your lights
- Check your external door locks are up to date
- Cut any hedges so that burglars can't hide unseen
- Move wheelie bins so they cant be used to provide a 'leg up' access
- Make sure your windows have modern window locks (including patio doors)
- Put trellis on the top of any side gate (does the gate have secure locks)
- Apply inexpensive non-climb paint on drain-pipes etc (above shoulder height)
