As well as smoothing traffic flow, the remodelled junction provides pedestrian crossings for the first time, making Kinloss Synagogue far more accessible. Observant members of the Jewish community travel to synagogue on foot on the Sabbath, and the new automated pedestrian crossings will remove the need to operate equipment.
Earlier in the day the Mayor visited Brent Cross Shopping Centre to meet with businesses and shoppers. He heard from local business leaders that the economy is proving resilient but retailers have to work harder and those providing value are performing well.
He was accompanied by Mike Freer MP who said, “Boris received a rapturous reception at both Kinloss Synagogue and Brent Cross. The upgrade of Henlys Corner is obviously very popular, and Boris deserves a great deal of credit for pushing it through at a time of budget constraint. This investment in infrastructure not only provides jobs, but improves travel for all roads users, whether motorists, bus users or cyclists.
I was also very pleased to hear him pay tribute to the Jewish community for their contribution to charities and urge the audience to join Team London, the Mayor’s voluntary scheme. He also appealed for Jewish business leaders to take on an apprentice as part of his drive to provide 100,000 apprenticeships by the end of this year.
Shoppers at Brent Cross were very keen to chat and have their photo taken with Boris."
