Last week, I accompanied the Rt Hon Liz Truss MP, the Chief Secretary to the Treasury, to the McDonalds HQ in East Finchley to discuss the upcoming Spending Review.
The Spending Review is where the Chancellor of the Exchequer, and Chief Secretary to the Treasury set out government budgets for future years. This public spending encompasses spending on everything from housing and childcare, to infrastructure, energy and the environment. The purpose of the visit was to allow Liz Truss to discuss public spending with individuals of all pay grades, as well as the business itself. The Minister has been keen to get the views of a wide range of businesses and employees to see what they want to see more, or less, of regarding public spending.
The day started with introductions, which were then followed by a tour of the East Finchley HQ. This was then followed by a roundtable discussion. It was great to hear the views of both a great local employer, and local employees, to see what they deem important in public spending.
