Mike Freer MP and the local community gathered to plant crocus bulbs on the green by La Deliverance, between Charter Way and Regents Park Road in Finchley on 6th October 2019.
Around 100 members of the local community and synagogues planted 1500 crocus bulbs in memory of the 1.5 million children who perished in the Holocaust. A small commemorative plaque was also laid.
Finchley and Golders Green has the largest population of Jewish people of any of the 650 Westminster constituencies. For that reason, sadly many residents will have had family members or friends directly affected by the Holocaust.
Mike Freer MP said after the event, “It was a heart-warming to gather with the local community to create a commemoration for the innocent lives of 1.5 million children who perished far too young during the Holocaust. It serves as a reminder of those who were persecuted, as well as those whom are still being persecuted today.”
