Mike Freer has today welcomed Transport for London’s announcement to fund additional buses at peak times for pupils attending the Jewish Free School in Kingsbury. TFL’s decision comes as a result of a campaign by Mike Freer and parents for additional buses on congested routes.
Commenting today, Mike said “A number of parents had contacted me to complain that their kids were travelling to school on unsafe and overcrowded buses. This was clearly unacceptable which is why I am delighted that TFL have responded positively to my campaign”.
Bus frequencies will be increased from 6 buses per hour to 7.5 buses per hour on the 183 bus route which runs parallel with the 653 service between Hendon and the JFS. Overcrowding is a particular issue on this section of the 653 service.
TFL have provided assurances that the additional buses will be in operation from the 18th of January 2014.
