Health Secretary, Matt Hancock, has today announced that the NHS has secured a definitive agreement with Vertex Pharmaceuticals to make available all three of their UK-licensed cystic fibrosis medicines. This means that NHS patients will now have full access to Orkambi, Symkevi and Kalydeco. NHS England has secured that a deal that ensures good value for money for the taxpayer, but more importantly this deal will offer life changing treatment to those who need it the most.

There is no cap on patient numbers, meaning that everyone who might benefit can now get these treatments, free on the NHS. Clinicians will be able to begin prescribing these drugs within 30 days.

You can read more about this announcement here.
