Following a public consultation, Transport for London (TfL) have confirmed their decision to make the temporary extended route for the 383-bus permanent. The 383 will now always run from Woodside Park Station to Finchley Memorial Hospital.
The extended route was first introduced in October 2020 as a temporary measure during the Covid-19 pandemic, as several health services had been moved from the Royal Free Hospital to Finchley Memorial. In addition to serving the hospital, the extension to route 383 now provides a link to the retail and leisure facilities at Tally Ho Corner, and to Woodside Park station for passengers on the southern section of Finchley High Road.
I am delighted that TfL have made this decision to permanently extend the 383 route. This is something I have lobbied and campaigned for previously on behalf of constituents who had indicated to me their support for such a proposal. This will undoubtedly be greatly beneficial to commuters in the area, providing a permanent link to vital transport hubs and medical facilities, as well as to shops and leisure outlets.
Echoing TfL, I would like to thank all those who took part in the consultation, which you can read about in full here: https://haveyoursay.tfl.gov.uk/route-383-extension.
Please be assured that I will follow closely any progress on further proposals arising from the consultation, including the suggestion to extend the route to cover North & East Finchley.
