On Monday, I contributed to a debate on the Government’s Universal Credit benefit reforms. I discussed my experiences on the Work and Pensions Committee and voiced my support for the reforms which will make it easier for people in receipt of benefits to return to work.
I also had an interesting meeting on Tuesday with Mark Ward, who is running a campaign on sexual health for people with haemophilia. Subsequently, I had a meeting regarding the missing persons following the Turkish Invasion of Cyprus. This week is the 40th anniversary of the invasion and so on Sunday, I attended a rally in Trafalgar Square to show my support for a free, united Cyprus. This is of importance to many local residents who lost family and property after the invasion.
I also chaired a meeting on Tuesday with Baroness Gould on reproductive health which also looked at tacking HPV related cancers in men.
Later that week, I chaired a meeting with the Prime Minister London Conservative MPs at Downing St.
I also supported Government Ministers during debates on Local Plans, increased housing supply, planning fees and on Thursday’s strike action.
I had a number of engagements over the weekend including watching a performance of Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale in Little Wood, Hampstead Garden Suburb, as well as attending the Cypriot rally mentioned above.
